Intro to Brooke Darlington

Brooke Darlington (Territory Leader – North Territory) joined our company back in June. Having spent four months in the business so far, we caught up with Brooke for a quick Q&A session.

Tell us a bit about yourself, Brooke?
My background is in the Retail industry. I joined O2 from New Look, having worked for the likes of Matalan & TK Maxx prior to that. I live in Whalley in Lancashire, I’m married to Rob, I have a 2 year old daughter, Margot, and also 2 dogs, called Hetty and Betty.

What have you seen so far at O2, that you are most impressed with?
How we treat our people, the benefits & perks available to staff, and the work ethic.

What’s the thing you most enjoy about your Territory Leader role so far?
Working with people. I love being in stores with the teams. Also growing and developing others, and seeing them making progress with their plans.

What have you enjoyed doing in your first four months in the business?
Learning new things, the challenge of the mobile industry and the new role, and the ‘Take That’ concert that took place in my second week with the company!

What are your thoughts around ‘Women in Leadership’?
I have always worked with both men and women. I now have two women as part of the North Territory Leadership team too, Joanne (FSM) & Kerry (TSL). It’s about Leadership capabilities, not gender. If you have the right intentions & skills, and want to deliver, it doesn’t matter. You have to bring people on your journey with you.

What motivates you?
Results, seeing people grow & develop, and making it fun.

What are your biggest passions outside of work?
Family & friends, and also food.

What is your favourite ‘box set’?
‘Game of Thrones’. I love it!

What did you want to be when you were younger?
A personal trainer in the Army, or a conservationist.

Where is your favourite place to visit and why?
Italy – wow, just wow! Santorini is amazing.

What are you most looking forward to in the coming weeks & months?
Meeting more store teams!
