Padraic Ó Dubhshláine – What is it like as a Resourcing Advisor?

My name is Padraic, and I have been working on the Resourcing Team for the past year and I would not change a thing…

During my time in university, I was always asked, what would you like to do when you finish? Studying Human Resources Management certainly opened many doors for me, but my answer was always that I would love to work in recruitment where I felt I could make a difference and have a positive influence on others.

Having left university, I came across the fantastic opportunity to join the MyHR team. Learning about the role and the responsibilities, it immediately grabbed my interest. The position of Resourcing Advisor is all I hoped for and more.

On a daily basis, I interact with a variety of different people from different backgrounds, talking to them and listening to their stories and their experiences have certainly allowed me to develop into my role and as a person. I recruit from stores across Northern Ireland, Merseyside, Scotland, The North East and Yorkshire, so listening closely has become one of my stronger skills! Can you imagine the mix of accents?

An important part of the role is to build and maintain relationships with managers and regional leaders. Thankfully, this is a lot easier than it might sound, especially when we can catch up on things outside of work, for example how Ireland won the Grand Slam in 2018 and how Man Utd are going to win the Premier League in 2018/2019 (in my dreams). I am very fortunate to be able to work with people who are bold, open and trusted and dedicated to making every day better through personal experiences that count.

Hiring people is the highlight of my role, being able to call a candidate and offer them the chance to work for O2 and hearing their reaction makes it all worthwhile, but when they start crying, it brings a smile to my face. Seeing some of those candidates promoted to higher roles after time is doubly fulfilling.

Working alongside the team in MyHR is very rewarding and I am delighted with how I have settled in since I have joined. Being able to learn from other teams within the office provides a great opportunity to learn and develop new skills from those with years of experience and knowledge.

My name is Padraic, and I am proud to work for O2.
